1TapReceipts (part of Receipt Bank) makes it quick and easy for sole traders to manage their expenses. Onyx were engaged at the end of 2016 to increase downloads of the app. 1Tap had not done PR before so brand awareness was low.

The Campaign

Using the newshook of HMRC increasing reporting to four times a year from 2018 (Making Tax Digital) and the looming self-assessment deadline we issued two press releases and sold in to national, business and personal finance journalists. Much of the coverage had 1Tap quoted as the sole champion of MTD (when others were criticising it).

Results

The first press release was issued at the end of December. In just over a month from that date we achieved 
39 pieces of coverage:
 7 pieces appeared in national newspapers
, 2 pieces in Mail Online (the news site with the biggest global audience). The story also appeared in a broad selection of financial and business trade media.
